The Orange-Senqu River basin states range from Low Human Development to Medium Human Development according to the United Nations (UN). The disparity is not only between states but also within states. This chapter examines the Vulnerability of people found in the basin states and Poverty Alleviation methods being employed in each of the basin states. The chapter also discusses the relevant international development initiatives: Water for Development and the Millennium Development Goals.
